MCBF History of Giving

In 2004 the Monroe County Bar Association formed the Monroe County Bar Foundation (MCBF) to be the giving arm of the Association. Funds are raised through member donations, funding from MCBA and the hosting of special events.

Since the formation, we have supported local non-profit agencies and provided numerous graduating seniors with scholarships.  Some of the organizations we have supported include:

United Way of Monroe County Salvation Army Pocono Area Transitional Housing Big Brothers Big Sisters
American Red Cross Pocono Family YMCA Pocono Arts Council Camp Cadet Troop 'N'
Pocono Alliance East Stroudsburg University Foundation Quiet Valley Pullen Clinic
Monroe County Libraries Children's Advocacy of Monroe County Monroe County Children and Youth Center for Vision Loss
Monroe County Historical Association Pocono Community Health Alliance

Scholarship Program

Each year, the Foundation offers up to four scholarships to graduating high school seniors, one from each of the four public schools in Monroe County.  Students must be furthering their education in the field of law or a law related field. Student may apply through their school or directly to the Monroe County Bar Foundation.  Scholarship applications will be available in the spring of 2017.

In 2014, upon the passing the Honorable Ronald E. Vican, MCBF created the Honorable Ronald E. Vican Memorial Scholarship.  Judge Vican was the longest serving President Judge of Monroe County, and a Pocono Mountain graduate.  The scholarship is awarded to a Pocono Mountain East High school graduating athlete who excels in academic achievement and community service. Applications are now available.
